You can choose to go after one, two, or all three now if you’re feeling up for it though I’d recommend only pushing that if you have a big group of friends to help with. The main goal of a Saga is to defeat the world boss and there are three available now. Multiple NPCs are there to help you craft items for gathering resources, forge weapons and armor for fighting, and gain potions or food to replenish your health. Sagas have you protecting part of the World Tree which resides in a town. This has been the main mode of the game since its launch and is the big focus on the marketing for Season 3 and the game’s launch on the Xbox platform. Two modes are on offer the first of which is the Sagas. You are sent down from Asgard to protect Midgard, aka Earth, from the denizens of Hel. Your mighty immortal character will chop down trees, pickaxe rocks, and slay creatures of legend in an up to 10-player co-op title that has grown a lot since it first launched. It’s a big co-op-focused Viking sandbox that is launching into Xbox at the start of its third season of new content.

For me, I just feel too rushed by the day/night cycle to actually enjoy it though, and I’m not sure long term solo play will result in anything more than a Golden Horn or maybe two per run and somewhat significant time investment.Tribes of Midgard hit Playstation and PC in 2021.

Maybe my third game will let me at least kill a giant as you did, if I figure out how and where to get the materials I need. Couldn’t damage it very much and I took massive damage - it was the mage Jotun and she summoned Helthings constantly and I had villager equipment and just couldn’t do anything. My experience was like yours - awful, then died on the first Jotun. I’m inspired from that other topic to try solo again. I don’t think that’ll be most people, and I think some will be turned off by this before they get anywhere.

Someone replied to me in another topic and they made it to day 13 solo, and said it wasn’t hard. Good if you want to farm horns I suppose. Personally, I think it’s balanced too hard, and most people will get through one or two Jotun, and that’s it. Without having another player near the structure to let me know how much of X material I needed, it took up a lot of my time going back and forth to deposit and be just a little short on cut stone or something else each time. The biggest issue with solo balance that I felt was in resource gathering and especially upgrading structures like the farm and mines. I think people struggle a bit because they are losing time just adjusting to the mechanics and the flow (which the tutorial really doesn't get you prepared for IMO) but that's where the roguelike nature of it comes in where you'll be learning and getting better each attempt. Overall the difficulty feels completely fine solo within the first few days. I ended up dying on day 4 when the the elites started attacking my base and I forgot to repair my gear. On my first run I lost about 800 souls and wasted a ton of time before even hitting the first Jotunn and I still managed to kill him solo before he attacked the tree with a lvl 2 sword.
